Child car seat laws can vary from country to country or even between states. Here in Mexico there aren’t any enforced laws regarding babies or young children needing to be in car seats. You are unlikely to find taxis with an infant car seat although if you rent a car you should be able to reserve one. There is no legal requirement to have car seats in Mexico. If the hired driver doesn’t provide the correct child car seat, children can travel without one – but only if they travel in a rear seat and wear an adult seat belt if they’re 3 or older and only without a seat belt if they’re under 3.
