Forearm Crutches (Canadian Crutches)

Forearm Crutches (Canadian Crutches) may be perfect if you are non-weight bearing or partial weight bearing.  Are you new to Forearm Crutches? Check out this video on how to use them.  “How to Use Elbow Crutches”.  Many physicians prefer this style of crutch instead of the under arm option. However, your comfort with the product is the most important thing. If you have used standard aluminum crutches and are comfortable with them, they may be a better choice for you.

Are crutches right for you and your situation?

Should you get crutches? Have you used crutches before? Crutches may be right for you if you have good upper body strength and an even surfaces to work with. Crutches are very difficult with stairs, cobblestone, or poor upper body strength. An all-terrain wheelchair would be better for cobblestone. Unfortunately, there is no good mobility choice for stairs. We have a stair climber available, but it is limited to straight, wide stairs for use.  Forearm crutches are a good option if you are partial weight bearing, have a small elevator in your building, or will only be moving around inside. If you are unsure what product is right for your situation, feel free to send us an email at

Also, Beach Crossers Mobility Rentals Vallarta has a variety of standard aluminum crutches available to help you remain mobile and independent.
